Residency Program
History and Program Mission
*The Neurology Group is the leading neurology practice in the Inland Empire. Our physicians treat a vast range of neurological diseases and conditions and provide critical neurological care primarily to medically underserved populations. Our residency program has two main goals:
- To provide a training experience for residents that maximizes outpatient exposurewhere the majority of neurological care takes place- while at the same time providing a comprehensive neurology medical education
- To develop capable physicians that are committed to serving communities in need, primarily in our service population*
Training Sites
Our primary training sites are in The Neurology Group’s Rancho Cucamonga and Pomona clinics, where they will be exposed to a broad range of neurological, neuromuscular, and behavioral conditions. Our residents complete their inpatient neurology rotations at Pomona Valley Medical Center and San Antonio Regional Hospital.
Curriculum & Educational Experiences
Our program curriculum has been designed to address the limited outpatient exposure that can serve as an obstacle for graduating residents looking to complete a fellowship or begin clinical practice. For that reason, our program places a heavy emphasis on training in an outpatient setting and ensuring that residents can gain proficiencies in interpreting EEG, EMG, and other fundamental diagnostic tools for clinical practice. Additionally, residents will gain exposure to different subspecialties within neurology as well as a comprehensive inpatient exposure to ensure that they are fully equipped as well-rounded physicians. Our training sites are located in medically underserved areas with extremely diverse patient populations, which is well suited for the development of dedicated and service-oriented physicians. As part of their training, our residents have the opportunity to benefit from our incredible faculty members who have vast expertise in many different neurological disciplines.
Curriculum:
3 Years of Cumulative Neurology Training: 11 Months neurology inpatient services, 6 months adult neurology outpatient services, 1 months Psychiatry, 10 months Neurophysiology, 3 months pediatric/child neurology, 6 months neurology electives
- PGY1-transitional year (Internal medicine, up to 4 months of neurology) Our program is not currently accepting PGY1 residents
- PGY2- Inpatient 5 months, 3 months outpatient, 1 month psychiatry, 2 months Neurophysiology, 2 months outpatient electives
- PGY3- Inpatient 3 months, 3 months outpatient, 3 months Neurophysiology, 3 months pediatric/child neurology
- PGY4- 3 months inpatient, 1 month outpatient, 5 months Neurophysiology, 4 months elective
Electives include: Epilepsy, neurocritical care, vascular neuro, headache and pain, neurosurgery, research, dementia, neuroendovascular, movement disorders, neuromuscular

Prospective residents:
Our program is planning to take part in the National Residency Matching Process starting in the 2027-2028 application cycle. Although our program does not currently facilitate intern year training, we are open to applications from prospective PGY2-PGY4 transfers starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. We are especially interested in applicants who:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to service
- Have a long-term interest in practicing Neurology in the medically underserved areas within southern California’s Inland Empire

Resident Policy Overview:
– Duty Hours: Clinical and educational work hours must be limited to 80 hours per week, averaged over a four-week period, inclusive of all in-house clinical and educational activities,
clinical work done from home, and moonlighting. Residents will also be required to log and submit clinical and educational work hours to the Program Director on a weekly basis. Failure
to record work hours could result in disciplinary action; if a Resident experiences any difficulty reporting their work hours in a timely manner or if they realize that they will be in
noncompliance with working hours guidelines they must notify their supervising faculty member, the Program Director, and Program Coordinator
– Time Off: Residents are allotted three weeks of paid vacation per year (15 weekday and 6 weekend days), scheduled in one-week blocks per academic contract year. It is highly preferred
that residents plan their vacations for Elective and OPN blocks to avoid any issues with the required number of inpatient training weeks, and all vacation requests must be submitted 90-days
in advance for approval by contacting the program director and program coordinators. Vacation days shall not be subject to an accumulated “pay out” upon the completion of the program,
transfer from the program, or upon the residents/fellows involuntary or voluntary termination from the program. No vacation balance shall carry over into a new contract, contract renewal, or contract extension or rolled over from one academic year to next.
– Sick Leave: All residents are frontloaded 7 days of paid sick leave upon hire to be renewed each year on anniversary date. Residents are eligible to use paid sick leave immediately upon hire.
Notify the program director and program coordinator ASAP when utilizing sick leave.

Our faculty is comprised of physicians based in The Neurology Group’s outpatient clinics as well as TNG-affiliated hospitalists contracted at many of the hospitals servicing San Bernadino County and the greater Inland Empire.
Our faculty has a wide range of expertise within neurology and clinical neuroscience. Residents within our program can learn from the very best in neurocritical care, pediatric neurology, neuromuscular disorders, headache, etc. Members of our faculty have distinguished themselves in different fields of study and service and are committed to training the next generation of capable and driven neurologists. Our faculty will lead educational lectures and journal clubs with residents as well as providing clinical supervision and mentorship; the goal of our faculty is to enable physicians to excel both within the neurological field and in any future professional and academic endeavors.
